About us
Juju Dhau, also known as the “King of Yogurts”, is a sweet yogurt specialty of Bhaktapur, Nepal, with roots tracing back to the Malla period. The Malla dynasty, which ruled the Kathmandu Valley from the 12th to the 18th century, played a significant role in popularizing Juju Dhau. It is said that a yogurt competition was organized during this period, where the king favored the Bhaktapur yogurt, leading to its recognition as “Juju Dhau”.
Pushpa RJ Malla and Suman Shrestha are the first young entrepreneurs from London, Ontario to introduce Juju Dhau formally in Canadian yogurt market. Juju Dhau is a special type of yogurt traditionally made from buffalo milk and set in small clay pots and was traditionally reserved for royalty and sacred rituals, signifying blessing and abundance. What sets it apart is its thick, velvety consistency and a natural sweetness that comes from simmering the milk and carefully fermenting it to perfection.
